Report: Ghost Games Suffers Layoffs, New Need for Speed Title Put on Hold

Over the weekend, Polygon posted a report that said Ghost Games suffered layoffs during the week, with a new and unannounced Need for Speed game put on hold, as Ghost Games has now become the driving force behind the franchise.

As part of the report, they’ve heard from their “multiple sources” that contractors were let go, while full-time employees were told they could take compensation and leave, or keep working at the studio and help Visceral with the rumored police-themed Battelfield title, code-named Havana. If the rumor turns out to be true, we should expect the new Battlefield later this year, but official confirmation has yet to be given.

When reached for a response about the layoffs and the potential Battlefield game, EA didn’t go in to specifics, just saying the company has “entered a consultation period for some positions in our Ghost Games U.K. studio.”

If EA elaborates any further on what’s happening at Ghost Games, we’ll be sure to let you know.
