In 4 Hours, Game Informer Beat Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ Main Mission Twice + 3 Side Missions

With Game Informer reporting that it took them just two hours to complete the main mission of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, it’s caused quite a ruffle for people who were wanting to buy the game, but who understandably don’t want to spend $40 on just a couple hours of gameplay.

To give us some more insight into their 4 hour total playtime with Ground Zeroes, Game Informer discussed exactly what they did, while also noting how the PS4/Xbox One versions they played weren’t final, though Konami told them that most of the changes in the retail version would be aesthetic.

When it comes to the playthrough of the main mission, two Game Informer editors were able to “beat it and watch credits roll within two hours.” In addition to the main mission, there are also five Side Ops missions, with GI getting the chance to play through a Side Op where Snake rescues a VIP, as well as the PlayStation-exclusive Déjà Vu and Xbox-exclusive Jamais Vu.

In total during their four hours of playtime, both editors say they beat the main story twice (the second playthrough was “significantly shorter because we knew where to go and were skipping cutscenes”), along with the three missions mentioned in the previous paragraph.

GI does take the time to say they enjoyed Ground Zeroes, and being an open-world title, your playtime could be extended by approaching missions in different ways.
