As Creative Director Neil Druckmann puts it, “You’re less than 12 hours from playing Left Behind,” the new DLC for The Last of Us.
Over on the EU PS Blog, Druckmann confirmed that The Last of Us: Left Behind would be available to download from the PlayStation Store at 6AM GMT globally on February 14th, which translates to 1AM ET on February 14th and 10PM PT later tonight. Be warned though: Left Behind is a 5GB download, and Druckmann didn’t say if the DLC would start up when the file is partially downloaded (like The Last of Us did), so expect to wait a bit before you can play.
If you want to learn a little bit more about Left Behind, keep reading, otherwise skip this next part to stay in the dark as much as possible:
“Left Behind tells the story of Ellie and Riley. It continues the themes of survival, loyalty, and love that we explored in the full game. We wanted to dig deeper into the events that transformed Ellie into the fighter players were introduced to on her fateful meeting with Joel. What does it mean for two teenagers to survive in a world that offers little hope? How far will you go to save yourself? How far will you go to save the ones you love?
“While you might think you know how Left Behind ends, there are plenty of surprises and insights into who Ellie is. Fans of The Last of Us will not want to miss this new chapter that ties directly into the main story.”
“Left Behind is really something special. It is one of the most polished single-player experiences we’ve ever crafted. We are super proud of the quality of the gameplay and the depth of the story.”
The launch trailer for Left Behind is now available, but be warned as it shows new footage for the DLC, as well as spoilers from The Last of Us main game:
If you’ve yet to buy The Last of Us, the PlayStation Store now has a bundle for $59.99 where you get the game and Season Pass. Druckmann also revealed that The Last of Us has won over 230 Game of the Year awards worldwide, with a Reddit AMA being held on Friday, February 21st at 10:30PM GMT to answer all your Left Behind questions.
Our review of The Last of Us: Left Behind is ready now, and we’ll publish it very soon. Let us know if you’re buying just this one piece of single-player DLC or if you’ve already purchased The Last of Us season pass in the comments.
