Confirming what retailers had already leaked, LEGO The Hobbit has been given an April 8th release date in North America and April 11th date in Europe by Warner Bros. When it does launch, LEGO The Hobbit will be available on PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, and PC.
Since LEGO The Hobbit only covers the first two movies – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug – this leaves the third movie ripe for a LEGO game of its own. Speaking with Polygon, Executive Producer Nick Ricks didn’t shoot down the idea, but he was careful not to fully commit to it either:
At the moment we’re completely focused on making LEGO The Hobbit the best it can be. We know there’s another film coming out, and we’ve got very excited plans about that, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can say today.
VG247 was also able to post some videos about LEGO The Hobbit with Associate Producer Tim Wileman, showing you gameplay and more:
When LEGO The Hobbit comes out this April, it will mark the 3rd LEGO game in six months, with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes out in October 2013 and The LEGO Movie Video Game out earlier this month.
Can you handle another LEGO game so soon? Let us know in the comments below.
