Uncharted Writer Amy Hennig Leaves Naughty Dog

Update: Hennig has taken to her Twitter account today to say, “Well, now I know how to get my follower count to shoot up! Thanks, everyone, for the kind words – it’s very appreciated. More than you know.”

Original Story: Amy Hennig, Creative Director and Writer on the Uncharted series, has left Naughty Dog.

This news was confirmed by Sony in a statement yesterday (via IGN):

We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.

While this next part is purely a rumor right now, IGN heard from “numerous trusted sources close to Naughty Dog” that claimed The Last of Us’ Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley “forced” Hennig out, with her last day coming on Monday, March 3rd. The sources then explained that Druckmann and Straley may now take over Uncharted on PS4 with Hennig gone, but again, treat this as a rumor right now.

Over on Twitter, Neil Druckmann, Bruce Straley, Amy Hennig, and Naughty Dog have all yet to make any comment.

We’ll let you know of any more developments to Hennig’s departure as they arrive.
