Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Won’t Have a Platinum Trophy “Due to Sony’s Regulation”

Despite having the full 1000 achievement points on Xbox, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for the PS4 (and presumably PS3) won’t include a Platinum trophy, as Hideo Kojima explained on Twitter:

The reason [Ground Zeroes] doesn’t have Platinum Trophy in PS4 is due to SONY’s regulation. They won’t allow us to have them for non-full price game.

It’s a little odd that Ground Zeroes won’t have a Platinum trophy, considering how fellow budget title Magus did, and smaller PSN games like Velocity Ultra have a Platinum to unlock as well. No matter the case, you won’t have a Platinum trophy to obtain when Ground Zeroes releases this week, unless you live in Australia or New Zealand, where the game has been delayed until March 27th, as Konami confirmed to NZGamer (this may only affect the retail version, with the digital version on the PS Store dated for March 20th).

For a possible hint to the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a user on Reddit posted this image after registering their copy of Ground Zeroes, which says DLC for The Phantom Pain will be available in early 2015, suggesting that that’s when we’ll see the full Phantom Pain game:
