Kojima: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes “is More Like a Tutorial”

Even with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes having been released this week, Hideo Kojima is still tweeting about the game. This time around, he discussed how Ground Zeroes is a tutorial for The Phantom Pain, and he also gives advice on how to play the game (tweets edited for clarity where applicable):

Ground Zeroes is more like a tutorial – so fairly small open world – but The Phantom Pain has much bigger fields and changes time/weather, giving more tension to players.”

“Snake in Ground Zeroes moves smooth as butter. Especially when he points with gun while crawling, and rotate the camera.”

“How to play Ground Zeroes: First, start with main mission and replay in alter course/hard mode or play sideOPS that you opened. Collect items, patches and play special OPS/trial. Listen to the collected tapes while playing app. Try to get 100%.”

“Some calls it FREE SNEAKING. I’ve been saying it is Real Sneaking Simulator to differentiate other linear games, but it’s hard to get it.”

If you live in the UK and went to buy Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for PS4 from the PlayStation Store, you may have noticed that the price is £24.99, instead of the originally planned £29.99. MCV reports that this price change comes directly from Sony as they are trying to be “more competitive” with retail stores, who are selling the physical version for around £30. Konami then confirmed that they had nothing to do with Ground Zeroes’ digital version becoming cheaper in the UK.

Hideo Kojima also told Eurogamer (via MGI) that “in The Phantom Pain, you’ll have many missions where there will be bosses at the end of a mission.”

Did you buy Ground Zeroes? Is it worth the purchase? Let everyone know in the comments below.
