In a surprising move, Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 4 will be released for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on November 18th in North America and November 20th in Europe.
Confirming earlier reports, Far Cry 4 will be set in Kyrat, an untamed region in the Himalayas currently ruled by a “despotic self-appointed king.” While Far Cry 4 is ditching the jungle setting of Far Cry 3, Kyrat is still a “wild land full of perils,” and you’ll be able to travel through the open world using weapons and vehicles.
Executive Producer Dan Hay had this to say about Far Cry 4:
Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations. Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.
By pre-ordering Far Cry 4 you’ll be upgraded to the Limited Edition, which includes three Hurk’s Redemption single player missions, as well as his hefty harpoon gun.
Far Cry 4 will be shown off at Ubisoft’s E3 2014 press conference, with development being led by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai, and Ubisoft Kiev.
