In an interview with Game Informer, Naughty Dog co-presidents Christophe Balestra and Evan Wells talk about the studio’s stability, the future of Uncharted 4 for the PlayStation 4 and a few more other details.
During this candid conversation, Evan Wells reveals that Naughty Dog isn’t just working on Uncharted 4, but that it has another project that’s “on the scale” of Uncharted. However, before you get too excited, don’t look for it to debut at E3 or anytime soon, as Wells also mentions that the game is in “early pre-production stages.”
EW: Well I mentioned earlier the number of products we have going. We definitely have another project on the scale of Uncharted in very early pre-production stages. We have the sizable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it’s got a long runway in front of it. We have a lot of great ideas and some stuff that is already getting everybody jazzed and excited. So, it’s a long way off before we can really start talking about it in detail. But no, [Bruce and Neil working on Uncharted] is not going to impact our ability to keep that stirring that pot.
Judging from creative director Neil Druckmann’s statement last month that the studio is working on “two other brand-new experiences,” this could very well be for a new IP. Whatever it is, your guess is as good as mine at this point.
If you had to make a guess, what setting and theme will be this new game be based on?
