EA: New Dead Space Isn’t in Development, Future Installment “Absolutely” Possible

Teases within Battlefield: Hardline aside, the Dead Space franchise seems to have gone dormant for now, following Dead Space 3’s release back in February 2013.

As you’d expect with E3 last week, there were questions raised about the future of Dead Space, with EA Studios EVP Patrick Söderlund explaining to Polygon that we may see another entry in the series, but it isn’t happening right now:

To the largest extent we can, we want to get the game teams to work on the things they want to work on themselves. There’s an incredible amount of enthusiasm over Hardline and the Star Wars game at Visceral. Do I think that we will create a Dead Space game again? Yes, I think so. But when we do so, we have to think about what made the previous ones successful and how we go about envisioning Dead Space for a new generation.

Now, I’m not announcing a Dead Space game. We’re not building one just to be very clear, but I’m saying is there an opportunity or possibility to do one in the future? Absolutely.

As Söderlund pointed out, Visceral is hard at work on Battlefield: Hardline and an unannounced Star Wars title, so it’s unlikely the studio will have a chance to work on anything else for quite some time.

Do you think we’ll ever see Dead Space 4?
