CoDAW

Honorable Mention

Dan O: It’s no secret that the Call of Duty franchise has been needing some new coat of paint for some time. Having started its roots focusing on World War 2 then moving through Vietnam and the modern era of combat, not much has really changed. Now, Activision has not only given the latest entry to a different studio than we have seen in the past, they have let them make some significant changes to the series.  That alone is something to make us want to stand up and pay attention, as this is already shaping up to an experience shooter fans wont want to miss.

Everybodys Gone to the Rapture

Honorable Mention

PaulmichaelEverybody’s Gone to the Rapture is such a departure from the rest of the games on this list, and games in general, that it just had to nab an honorable mention. You don’t go around killing everything that moves. Nor do you complete objective after objective after countless objective. No, in Rapture, you simply explore, and experience. Developer The Chinese Room is looking to make a game that will stick with you for long after the final credits have rolled.

tales from the BL

Dan O: It is no secret that I love just about everything done by Telltale games, and after getting to see their latest work, Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series, my admiration for their work has only grown. Not only have they found a way to create a game that genuinely captures the feeling and look of the Borderlands series, they have found a way to mesh in that charm that we have been seeing from their games over the last few years. In all honesty, Tales from the Borderlands would have won a Best of E3 award, but it was the very last thing we got to see at the show, it is just that good.
