Minecraft PS3/360 Sales Surpass PC/Mac, Game Closes in on 54 Million Across all Platforms

If you had any doubts that Minecraft was a sales behemoth, Mojang’s Patrick Geuder revealed on Twitter yesterday that, across all platforms, Minecraft has nearly reached 54 million copies sold. While he didn’t post a detailed breakdown, Geuder did reveal that the console editions (PS3/360) have combined to pass the PC/Mac version of the game in sales.

Considering how Minecraft continually tops the PS3 digital charts each month, finishes in the top 10 each week in the UK, and placed 5th in the NPD chart for May, it’s no surprise to hear the console versions are doing so well. And it’s only going to get better, with the PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One versions releasing this August.

For those of you hoping to get Minecraft on PS4 or PS Vita, don’t forget that the PS Vita version includes cross-buy with PS3, while those who own the PS3 version can pay $4.99 to upgrade to PS4. Check out full details of the game on PS4 and PS Vita by heading over here.
