Sony: Over 100 Million Consoles, Including PS3, PS Vita, & PS4, Have Been Sold Worldwide

As part of a recent video published on the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel about the PlayStation Official Licensing Program for corporates, an interesting piece of information was given:

More than 100 million consoles, including PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4 systems, have been sold around the world.

Since the counter in the video keeps rising and goes past 120 million, it’s tough to tell if Sony is only including PS4, PS3, and PS Vita sales, or if they’re also adding in PSP, PS Vita TV, and any other PlayStation platforms to the mix. If the 100 million number is representative of just the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita though, then it gives us a bit of a better idea of what the PS4 and PS Vita have sold lifetime.

Last we heard back in November 2013 was that the PS3 crossed 80 million sold, while the PlayStation 4 was at 7 million in April, and the PS Vita is nearing 3 million sold in Japan (combined PS Vita, PSP, & PS Vita TV sales last fiscal year were 4.1 million). Judging by this, we can assume the PS3 is anywhere from 81-84 million units now, the PlayStation 4 is at 8-9 million, and the PlayStation Vita is 8-10 million.

Sony has yet to clarify the 100 million number since the video went live, but if they do, we’ll let you know what they say.
