Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is coming in only one week to the PlayStation 4. Developer Just Add Water has unveiled a couple of bonuses for anyone that pre-orders the digital download as a thank you for showing good faith before the game is actually out.
As shown below, there are two extras that pre-orders, or “QuikBuys” as Just Add Water is calling them, can expect to receive. The first is called “Alf’s Escape,” which is extra content that will release shortly after the main game:
Alf’s Escape – Abe ain’t the only one fleeing the farm!
Witness the humble beginnings of that fez-donning, tea-lovin’ Mudokon first seen in Abe’s Exoddus! Use Abe’s haphazard skills to sneak Alf outta the factory and to freedom! Watch out for that meat grinder!“Alf’s Escape” is an all-new area of RuptureFarms containing brand new puzzles and fiendish hazards that’ll ensure a fresh challenge for even the most seasoned Oddworld fans, as well as specially recorded dialogue!
It’ll also feature its own PSN leaderboards, alongside all the other levels in the game, so you can compete with everyone else to see who can rescue Alf in record time!
Anyone that pre-orders New ‘n’ Tasty (in the US and Canada) will get Alf’s Escape for no extra cost when it’s released as DLC shortly after release.
Up next is a costume for Abe, dubbed the “Scrub Abe,” which will unlock at release:
Scrub Abe – Dress to possess!
Now you can really go to work on those Sligs! Players that pre-order the game can get Abe kitted out in a traditional factory cleaner’s outfit (complete with striped loincloth and scalp cap) so they can really look the part on that grimy factory floor. In the US and Canada, the QuikBuy Scrub Abe costume will be exclusive to pre-orders, and will be available on release day.
If you noticed, these deals are for the US and Canada regions only. If you’re in a SCEE territory, then the requirements to get these bonuses are slightly different. You must be an active PlayStation Plus subscriber at the time that you purchase the game for £19.99/€24.99 in the UK/EU respectively, and buy the game within the first two weeks of its availability. If you fulfill these requirements, then the bonuses are yours for no extra charge.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is set to release on the PS4 on July 22, 2014 in the US and Canada, and July 23, 2014 in Europe. The game is also slated to release on the PlayStation 3 and Vita systems sometime in the future, with Cross-Buy and Cross-Save functionality across all systems.
