Tekken 7 Details Revealed, Will Have a “Very Detailed Background Story”

A Tekken 7 announcement wasn’t leaked that long ago, but producer Katsuhiro Harada came well-prepared at the San Diego Comic-Con where he revealed first details of his upcoming fighting game.

Speaking through his translator, Harada said that Tekken 7 will have a “very detailed background story,” which will conclude the Mishima clan saga. The game will reveal why Heihachi wants to kill his grandson, why Kazuya was thrown off a cliff, and the identity of Devil Jin among other details. While he didn’t have anything to say about the gameplay and mechanics, Harada did mention that the game will feature one-on-one battles, not team-based battles.

Tekken 7’s character designs will feature the works of artists Mari Shimazaki (Bayonetta), Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening, No More Heroes), Ninnin (Duel Masters, Cardfight!! Vanguard) and Kenichiro Yoshimura (Max Anarchy/Anarchy Reigns).

As previously confirmed, the game is being developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. Check out the full-length SDCC 2014 trailer below.
