The deal is sealed; Naughty Dog’s hit title The Last of Us is going to be a movie. This news was announced yesterday at the Screen Gems panel during San Diego Comic-Con by Sam Raimi and Neil Druckmann. While the movie script is being written by Druckmann, it is being produced by Raimi, who is the director of The Evil Dead and the original Spider-Man trilogy.
Adam B. Vary, a senior film reporter present at the event confirmed via Twitter that although nothing has been signed yet, the actress in talks for the lead role of Ellie is none other than Maisie Williams aka Arya Stark from Game of Thrones.
Druckmann reportedly said during the panel:
In an ideal world, Ashley Johnson would be 14. But there’s some way to get those actors into the film.
Interesting turn of events but I can’t say I’m too surprised. Let’s hope it’s going to be a good one, though!
