Far Cry 4 Developers Visited Nepal to Bring Kyrat to Life, Explain How Free Multiplayer Trial Works

We’ve known for quite some time that Ubisoft is seeking inspiration from South Asia for its in-game world of Kyrat. We now have a ‘behind-the-scenes’ documentary that shows two developers traveling all the way to Nepal to conduct their research. And in the process, they watch goats being sacrificed. Seriously.

The documentary gives us a glimpse of life in Nepal, with some information on Royal Gurkha Rifles, a rifle regiment of the British Army. The video is quite interesting, and you can watch it in full on Far Cry’s official Facebook page.

Speaking about the title’s free multiplayer trial, Ubisoft’s Alex Hutchinson said:

The inspiration came from the Super Nintendo days, and the way you tried out games then was to go to a buddy’s house and sit on his couch and play. How long you got to play depended on how long his mom let you sit there and keep playing, and when she said go home, that was it. So now, when you (the buyer) have decided you’ve had enough, (your friends) either have to buy it or log off.

Ubisoft previously revealed at E3 that it will give buyers 10 codes to hand out to friends who don’t own the game. They will then be able to participate for free in co-operative multiplayer.
