Assassin’s Creed Movie Actor Wants to “Respect” the Game

Actor Michael Fassbender, who was rumored to have dropped the Assassin’s Creed movie project, has reassured fans that he’s still in the game and that things are actively moving forward. Speaking to IGN, Fassbender addressed concerns regarding similarities between the movie and the franchise, and said that he wants to honor the game. He said:

You know, we absolutely want to respect the game. There’s so much cool stuff in the game that we’re actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can’t, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game. But we’re definitely making a feature film, and we’re approaching it as a feature film, as opposed to approaching it as a video game.

Fassbender also admitted to not playing video games much, but said that he met up with Ubisoft staff who explained to him the whole idea of DNA memory from the games.

I must say that I’m actually looking forward to the movie, and sincerely hope that it doesn’t bomb!
