gamescom 2014: Mortal Kombat X to Reintroduce an Old Fatality Type, No Mortal Kombat Vs. Street Fighter Planned

Ed Boon certainly loves teasing. Just last week, he said that there will be a “new-ality” that we’ll get to hear of soon. Now, he’s revealed that the upcoming title Mortal Kombat X will bring back one long-missing type of fatality (or just an ‘ality’) from the older games. Speaking to IGN he said:

For those who are familiar with the Mortal Kombat, we’ve first had the Fatality and we added a Babality. We had the Friendship moves, Brutality moves and all of these crazy things over the years. We are going to be reinstating an ‘Ality’ from a previous game into Mortal Kombat X. And I can’t wait to be able to talk about it but at the moment I can’t.

Oh boy! Can’t wait to see what it is.

In the same interview, Boon also confirmed that there currently isn’t a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game in the works, and he didn’t seem too hopeful about the possibility of one in the near future either.

There’s a nostalgia side of me that would love to see a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter, if we were allowed to make an M-rated game. There’s a novelty to that. But the chances of that happening are pretty low. It is a possibility but not a probability.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled for release in 2015. Boon has said that we’ll get a release date in the coming weeks.
