Sony has announced that the 500gb charcoal black PlayStation 3 will be getting a price drop in Japan later this month. It’ll be the newer model labeled CECH-4300C and will sell for ¥28,058. The original price is ¥30,837.
The current 500gb (CECH-4200C) and 250gb (CECH-4200B) charcoal black models will be discontinued alongside the 250gb classic white model (CECH-4200BLW).
The new price will go into effect on the same day that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will launch in Japan i.e. August 28. The company hasn’t announced price drops in any other regions of the world so we can’t say for sure if we should expect a slash in Europe and North America as well, although it would be pretty sweet if it did.
Will you be picking up a PlayStation 3 if there’s a price drop in your region?
