Ubisoft: Assassin’s Creed Rogue Sits in Between Assassin’s Creed 3 and Assassin’s Creed 4

With next-gen console owners being sent off to experience the French Revolution, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players will be stepping into the shoes of 18th century Templar Shay Patrick Cormac in Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Speaking to Shacknews about the game’s timeline, Ubisoft’s Karl Luhe said that Rogue “fits between Assassin’s Creed 4 and Assassin’s Creed 3.

Players should expect to see some familiar faces in the game, and although Ubisoft is keeping some characters tightly under wraps, Haytham Kenway’s appearance has been confirmed. Luhe said, “It’s the cornerstone of the Kenway saga, the story of Assassins versus Templars in the mid-18th century in North America.”

He further said that Rogue will switch up the Assassin’s Creed formula by allowing players to play as a Templer. We’ll get to use weapons and resources that aren’t available to Assassins, for instance, an air rifle with a grenade launcher. We’re also told that ships will be more powerful. However, players should try not to forget how the Assassins operate for they will be using their classic tactics like hiding in haystacks and waiting to attack.

At gamescom 2014, Ubisoft showed off Assassin’s Creed: Rogue’s naval gameplay, which you can watch here. The game is scheduled for release on November 11.
