This news probably won’t surprise anyone, especially since we’ve been promised beta details for Deep Down numerous times before. But just to let everyone know, Capcom has officially announced that a beta for the PlayStation 4 exclusive free-to-play title won’t be coming until 2015.
Earlier this month, Kazunori Sugiura, the game’s producer, posted an apology on Facebook for delaying beta news. Capcom has previously said that this is the company’s first free-to-play game, and that it’s dealing with a risky business model. We assumed that this could be one of the reasons why we’ve been waiting to hear something for a couple of months now.
We’re not sure of the reasons behind the latest announcement, but if it’s any consolation, Capcom has released a seven-minute long Deep Down gameplay video, which you can watch below (note: the commentary is in Japanese). Constant delays aside, the video shows some great environments and ferocious creatures alongside visible improvements in gameplay.
Deep Down does not have a definitive release date yet, but once we hear something, we’ll let you know.
