Rockstar Games’ 2010 open world PlayStation 3 game Red Dead Redemption “rejuvenated the western entertainment genre,” or at least that is what Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, believes.

The quote was used in a recent “shareholder outreach” document that Take-Two put together and submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The document also notes that Red Dead Redemption has shipped over 13 million copies to date.

Although no sequel has ever been announced for the Western, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick once described the game as a “permanent” franchise, perhaps implying that they may still be hope for a sequel.

Besides mentioning Red Dead Redemption, the document also talks about other Take-Two games, including Grand Theft Auto V and Bioshock, which it has said is the “highest-rated-first-person shooter of all time.”

Do you think Red Dead Redemption “rejuvenated the western entertainment genre?”
