Russian Channel Uses Team Fortress 2 Fan Poster to Illustrate US Propaganda

Russia’s Channel One has mistaken a Team Fortress 2 fan poster for what it calls U.S. military propaganda during the World War I. In its historical program about the great war, the channel displayed “crude” posters created by the United States Committee on Public Information to show that Germans were evil “regardless of any logic or common sense.” The poster from 2009 that you can see below is actually the work of a Finnish artist who goes by the pseudonym of TankTaur on the website DeviantArt

“The American public had to firmly acknowledge that Germans were evil,” said the program’s narrator. The channel is convinced that the poster was used to encourage people to join the demolition team (Team Demomam).

We’re not sure how they ended up making this mistake, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this. Most recently, Russia Today mistook an image from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for real images of African child soldiers. Oops!
