Lizard Squad Allegedly Attacked Destiny and Call of Duty: Ghosts Servers

DDoS attackers from the Lizard Squad have claimed credit for yesterday’s outage of Destiny and Call of Duty: Ghosts servers that left players unable to connect and play. We’re not sure if the group is merely taking credit or if they actually successfully executed their attacks, but both Activision games seemed to have suffered, resulting in frustrated players complaining on social media.

According to reports, both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Destiny were affected. Bungie tweeted a message, which has since been deleted, informing players that it is “actively investigating” the issue. In the meantime, Lizard Squad tweeted the following:

Our first test: Parts of Destiny #offline

Parts of Call Of Duty Ghosts #offline

The servers seem to be back up and running now, but it’s not clear what action, if any, the developers will take should Lizard Squad be behind the attacks.

Did any of our readers experience an outage?
