Fox International’s video game adaptation, Hitman: Agent 47, has been delayed to August 2015, according to Hollywood Reporter. The latest silver-screen adaptation of IO Interactive’s stealth series was originally due to release on February 27, but will now release on August 28 next year.
Despite the previous Hitman film failing to impress its audience, Fox decided to give it another chance. The new film will star Homeland actor Rupert Friend as the lead character and Zachary Quinto as the lead villain. Thomas Kretschmann (Stalingrad) will also play the role of a villain. According to a Fox synopsis:
“Agent 47” is an all-new motion picture about an elite and genetically engineered assassin, known only by the last two digits – 47 – of a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. His latest target is a young woman on the run from powerful and clandestine forces. The mission brings startling revelations about the lethal agent and his prey, hurtling them on a collision course with their pasts. And this time, his number may be up.
