Google has expanded its Knowledge Graph to include video game searches that will allow users to obtain a title’s basic info without having to click any links. This feature is already in effect for movies among other queries.
Upon searching for a particular game, users will find a Knowledge Graph panel appear on the right-hand side of the results page, displaying information such as release dates, supported platforms, developers, publishers, designers, and review scores. For those who aren’t familiar with the feature, Google’s Knowledge Graph project aims to enhance search results using semantic-search information gathered from a wide variety of sources.
Speaking to VentureBeat, a Google spokesperson said:
We always want to help people find the best answers to their questions – fast. With today’s update, you can ask questions about video games, and (while there will be ones we don’t cover) you’ll get answers for console and PC games as well as the most popular mobile apps.
