No Pre-Release Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Demo Coming, Says Game Director

After receiving your questions, Square Enix spoke with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV Game Director Hajime Tabata at Paris Games Week last week.

Unfortunately, he delivered some bad news, confirming that there won’t be a pre-release demo for the game:

We decided to get the game out as quickly as possible so we’re going to concentrate on getting the proper release version done – so we’re not going to be doing a demo for this one. We may think about doing a demo version after release to draw more people in but up until the main release we don’t have anything planned.

While there won’t be a demo, you can expect all the costumes to be included in the full game:

We made sure that all the special costumes that were available for the original game via various demos and other things can somehow be acquired during the actual game itself so they’ll all be there. We do have some extra costumes but we can’t reveal them as they are a secret… so that’s something you can look forward to discovering.

Since Final Fantasy XV doesn’t have a release year, it’s too soon to talk about what Tabata and his team will be up to in the future, but if Type-0 HD is successful, he wants to work on more games like that:

I would like to make more Type games and make them into a Final Fantasy series. We’ve registered trademarks for it, we’ve gone that far so we want to continue it. I’d like to make the Type series the kind of series where we can do the kind of stuff that we really can’t do in the mainline numbered series, so make it a really alternative kind of Final Fantasy.

All in all though, Tabata says he’d “like to be remembered as the leader of the team who made one of the best Final Fantasy games of all time.”

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launches on March 17/20, 2015 in North America/Europe, complete with a demo voucher for Final Fantasy XV.

Are you disappointed by the lack of a demo for Type-0 HD? Or did you plan on buying it either way?
