Activision Blizzard Q3 Financials: Destiny Has Over 9.5 Million Users

Putting a hard number to the amount of people playing Destiny, Activision revealed in their third quarter 2014 (ending September 30, 2014) financial results that Destiny “has more than 9.5 million registered users,” with active players playing for an average of over three hours per day.

Other highlights in their financials include Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, which was the #4 best-selling console title during the third quarter in North America and Europe combined. As well, Skylanders Trap Team in North America and Europe combined for the first nine months of 2014 was the #4 best-selling console and handheld title in overall dollars.

Looking at the actual financials, revenues on a non-GAAP basis were a record $1.17 billion, up from $657 million seen in the third quarter of 2013. Digital revenue attributed 43% to the $1.17 billion during the quarter.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick highlighted Destiny as the driver for their record quarter, with Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, Hearthstone, and World of Warcraft helping out as well.

With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Skylanders Trap Team available now, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor out next week, and Destiny The Dark Below in December, how big do you think Activision’s Q4 will be?
