While we won’t actually get to play the game until November 25 in North America and Europe (yes, same day PSN release) on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, that didn’t stop Lucid Games from releasing the launch trailer for Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions already.
Marking the first time Geometry Wars has appeared on PlayStation, Dimensions takes the fundamentals from the first two games and adds 50 new challenges in a single-player campaign, three-dimensional arenas, new game modes, boss battles, power-ups, leaderboards, 8 player competitive online, 4 player local co-op, and more.
To celebrate the launch of the series on PlayStation, we’ll be receiving two special stages:
- Symbolic (available to everyone) – Exclusive to PlayStation and features enemies that spawn in clusters shaped like the face buttons of the DualShock controller.
- Secret Eye (pre-order only) – Features a distinctive triangle-shaped grid and an evolving inner core that forces you to make split second decisions to camp in one of the three corners and confront the enemies, or to skillfully navigate past to escape the onslaught.
Answering some questions on the PS Blog, Lucid Games Co-Founder Craig Howard confirmed that it is 1080p/60fps on PS4:
On the PS4 it is 1080p and 60fps, its 720p 60fps on the PS3. No Stereo 3D at this stage; we are considering it as something we could support in the future.
If you’re disappointed that Geometry Wars 1 and 2 aren’t on PlayStation, Howard said:
You will be glad to know that Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions has a special classic mode containing the Evolved, King, Waves, Deadline and Pacifism modes.
Howard adds that the download size for the game is roughly 100mb to 200mb.
