Destiny Demo Now Available on PS4 & PS3, Character Progression Transfers to Full Game

Available for a limited time, the Destiny demo/trial can now be downloaded on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, or Xbox 360 in North America and Europe through the PlayStation Store/Xbox Store.

Giving you a chance to sample the “character creation and progression, story mission content, along with cooperative and social activities,” here’s how much space you’ll need for the download:

  • PS4 (Trial) – 20GB
  • Xbox One (Trial) – 20GB
  • PS3 (Demo) – 6GB
  • Xbox 360 (Demo) – 6GB

As an internal Hard Drive is required to use the Destiny demo, trial, or full game, external storage devices aren’t supported. This means the 12GB PS3, 4GB Xbox 360, Core Xbox 360, and Arcade Xbox 360 won’t be able to run the demo.

Bungie then answered a couple important questions about the demo/trial:

Will My Character Progression be Transferred to the Full Game if I Upgrade?

Yes, assuming you purchase the full retail copy of Destiny on the same console platform family you played the Destiny Trial or Demo on. For example, you may not transfer your progress from the Destiny Demo on Xbox 360 to the full retail version of Destiny on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3.

Progress is always shared automatically within the same console family on the Destiny servers. No action on your part is required.

How do I Upgrade to the Full Game?

The Destiny Trial on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can be upgraded via the in game menu. You will not be required to download the full retail game or purchase a disc.

To get the full version of Destiny on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, purchase Destiny from your local retailer, the Xbox Store, or the PlayStation Store. Once you have launched the full version of Destiny, and confirmed that your existing character progression can be selected, you may delete the Destiny Demo file, as you will no longer require it.

Will you take the Destiny demo for a spin?
