Login issues and server problems are currently plaguing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn after a recent DDoS attack, Square Enix acknowledged.
DDoS attacks are nothing new, as many of you probably remember the attacks that crippled Destiny servers soon after the game came out, but they can be incredibly problematic. This latest DDoS attack on FFXIV seems to be targeting the servers where player’s personal information is stored, but Square Enix has said that the information is “not in danger of being exposed.”
However, the attack is making it difficult for many players to login to the game, and it is also causing disconnections from the servers. Square Enix has said that it is aware of these issues, and it is working to fix them as soon as possible.
Our game servers, network equipment and network connection are being hit with heavy load at an extensive level, which is causing a disconnection from the game and login difficulties.
Our technical staff is taking every possible measure to address this issue but the attack is still continuing to take place by changing their methods at every moment. We will continue to monitor and work on recovery from every possible angle.
