Turtle Rock Studios has promised players that all of Evolve’s downloadable maps will be free of cost. In an interview with IGN, Creative Director Phil Robb said that the decision was made because the developer wants to keep the game’s community together. “We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven’t bought something,” he said.
Evolve will still get premium DLC, such as, new monsters and new hunters. However, those who don’t buy the DLC will be allowed to play alongside players who do.
We’ll have characters and monsters, and even if you don’t buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that’s cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase. So, you won’t be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters.
Customers who pre-order the game will receive the first monster DLC for free.
