We all have those games that we just can’t get enough of. Whether it’s an old one that we just keep going back to, or a newer release that is taking all of our time, there are games that steal our hearts and our lives. With that in mind, we asked the staff what games they have spent the most time with. Here’s what everyone had to say, including an exclusive answer from PSLS founder, Anthony Severino!

Anthony Severino (@Sev_Anthony)

For me, it’d be a massive tie between a handful of Squaresoft games in no particular order: Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Secret of Mana. I really couldn’t tell you which one of these I invested more time with, and each easily stole 100+ hours of my life multiple times over different playthroughs. Chrono Trigger was one of the first games with New Game+, and multiple endings, so if I had to tip my hat to any one specifically, it’d be Chrono Trigger. And on that note, I just died inside a little thinking about where Square Enix currently is as a publisher.

Console game would be Suikoden 3, which I think I have beaten at least 10 times. PC games, it would be a mix of Counter Strike, Ultima Online, and World of Warcraft. Nor really sure which of the PC games I spent more time in.

Chandler Wood (@FinchStrife)

Early on, I would say Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Gold. I put so much time into those games when I was a kid and early teen. However, due to the HD release of Final Fantasy X, going for platinum on that, and when combined with my original PS2 playthrough, FFX has a nice spot exceeding 200 total hours now. Destiny is rapidly catching up though, as I have put nearly 200 hours in just in the few short months since its release, and we don’t even have our hands on the DLC yet.

Well here’s the boring and honest answer: The Sims, in various forms. I’ve also spent lots of time in various GTAs, and on Runescape (does that count?). Although, for some reason I can’t stop playing Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare on PS4. It’s just such a great game.

Dan Oravasaari (@FoolsJoker)

As much as I would like to say Destiny, given the 300 hours I have dropped on it since its release, it simply doesn’t even come close to the amount of time I spent with Counter-Strike and Ragnarok Online. My first year of college was spent primarily playing those two games, as my whole dorm was playing CS, and my friends from high school were on RO, so I don’t know if anything will ever beat my investment into those games.

Heath Hindman (@TheHeathHindman)

Final Fantasy Tactics. I’ve been through it like six times, with a bunch of additional games started but not completed. Since I like to be thorough in every play, that’s a whole lotta time inside that game. Seems like I go on a run every two years or so.

Mark Labbe (@Markymark255)

Hmm… I think it would have to be Neverwinter Nights on the PC. The game came out in 2002, and I still continue to play it today. I don’t know exactly how many hours I’ve put into it, but it is probably a disturbing amount. The only other game that could come close is Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for the PC — great old strategy game. If you haven’t already figured it out, I’m a sucker for old PC games!

Sonic games have easily taken the most time from me. I first received Sonic the Hedgehog as a pack-in with the Genesis on the infamous Six Pack cartridge that others here didn’t think existed. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked. I’ve re-bought the game and its sequels numerous times, such as in Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection and other packs. I also have it on my phone via emulation, as well as the newer episodes. On PC, it might be a tie between Warframe and Minecraft, though Minecraft is taking more and more of my free time these days…I have never really been hooked on any PC games like I have been with those two.

Ryan (@Decimalator)

The Golden Box D&D games on C64, hands down. I spent so many hours playing through every single one, several times. The runner up is probably California Games, also on C64.

Zarmena Khan (@Zarmena)

I don’t think I can answer this accurately. I’ve been gaming since I was a child so I can’t really say which game I’ve spent the most time with. However, I do remember being addicted to Mario back in the day. And among the games released in the past five years or so, I think I’ve spent most of my time with LA Noire on multiple platforms.
