With the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix out this week on PlayStation 3 (here’s our review), Kingdom Hearts 3 Co-Director Tai Yasue spoke with IGN, revealing that, “when we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts 3, it was always 1.5, then 2.5, and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time.”
Since KH3 is a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game, and the two remaster bundles are only available on PS3, the obvious question is whether or not 1.5 and 2.5 would make the new-gen leap. According to Yasue, “I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet!”
As for a potential Xbox One release for 1.5 and 2.5, Yasue says they’ll listen to what fans want, but he adds, “There’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts 3 going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision.” His hesitation about confirming the games for Xbox One also likely stems from the system’s poor sales so far in Japan.
Would you buy 1.5 and 2.5 if they came to PS4?
