Japanese Sales Chart: PS Vita Sales Surge Thanks to Phantasy Star Nova

After debuting to over 1.3 million sold in its first week, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire combined to move another 300,000 units, placing in first overall.

Following Pokemon, there’s a good slate of new releases, with Phantasy Star Nova on PlayStation Vita placing in 2nd overall with 107,000 sold. A little further down the chart, the Resident Evil remaster on PlayStation 3 moved 50,000 copies, while Dragon Age: Inquisition on PlayStation 4 managed to sell over 29,000.

Thanks to the release of Nova, PlayStation Vita hardware sales rose by over 17,000, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the New 3DS XL. Also in hardware, the PlayStation Vita TV and Xbox One each saw big jumps (for them) in sales, with the Vita TV coming out on top.
