The Banner Saga 2 Confirmed for PS4, Xbox One & PC, Releases in 2015

Despite the first game having only just been announced for release on PlayStation 4 in early 2015, developer Stoic and publisher Versus Evil announced today that The Banner Saga 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2015.

Continuing the legacy and story of The Banner Saga, Stoic says The Banner Saga 2 will feature “stunning 2D animation and art, a unique tactical combat system and a cast of unforgettable characters.”

Stoic Co-Owner and Art Director Arnie Jorgensen talked about The Banner Saga 2:

The critical reception and widespread fan appreciation for The Banner Saga is overwhelming and humbling, and has the team at Stoic dedicated to delivering a fantastic sequel with The Banner Saga 2. Here we are announcing our next game, our way, on a world-wide stage.  We have surrounded our development efforts with quality people like Austin Wintory, Malukah, Taylor Davis and the Versus Evil team. We couldn’t be more excited.

Versus Evil General Manager Steve Escalante added:

There’s a seismic shift in the video game industry as consumers embrace the contributions and creations of independent game-makers such as Stoic, the incredibly passionate creators of The Banner Saga and The Banner Saga 2. We are very proud to be leading the way with The Banner Saga 2 announcement at what is traditionally a AAA game’s event. It’s a great time to be an ‘indie’ and we couldn’t be more proud to continue working with the Stoic team and our partners at Fearless Media who helped make this happen.

Expect more details about The Banner Saga 2 in early 2015.

As for the first The Banner Saga, Stoic recently announced that it will also release on PlayStation Vita, in addition to PlayStation 4.
