Developed by Grip Games (Jet Car Stunts, Atomic Ninjas), Tower of Guns is described as an “old-school, roguelike, first-person shooter with randomized levels and enemies.” As you can see in the announcement trailer, it’s scheduled for release in 2015 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
According to Grip Games CEO Jakub Mikyska, Tower of Guns is a “pure FPS experience for the players who just want to get a big gun, shoot stuff, battle gigantic bosses, upgrade their abilities, and modify their gear.” There won’t be any NPCs to get in the way, there won’t be any story to explain what you’re doing – “you’re the good one, they are the bad ones” – and if you get to the end, you win. Getting to the end won’t be easy though, as the difficulty is “brutal” and each death sends you back to the first floor, but you’ll be stronger and better equipped.
There will be over 20 weapons, “countless” modifications and upgrades, items, and perks to collect, with many huge bosses thrown in to kill you, secret rooms to find, and secret game modes to unlock.
Mikyska continued by saying, “Forget cover mechanics or stealth missions — instead, it’s time to re-learn strafing and double-jumping and enter each room with guns blazing.” He warns though, “You will die, and you will die a lot.”
