While Game of Thrones and Tales From the Borderlands just debuted with their first episodes, Telltale Games isn’t sticking to only those two series’, announcing today that they’ve partnered with Mojang to create Minecraft: Story Mode, a new episodic game series.
With the debut episode coming at some point in 2015, Minecraft: Story Mode is described as an “all-new narrative-driven game series” set in the world of Minecraft. Featuring an original story driven by player choice, “it will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product.”
Telltale Games adds, “[Minecraft: Story Mode] will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”
Over on Mojang’s blog, they revealed Minecraft: Story Mode is going to release for PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices. There was no mention of PlayStation Vita.
Mojang also said, “We’re not intending on creating an “official” story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a cool game” and “the Minecraft 2 thing was a joke. No really. It was a joke.”
As for their other games, Telltale Games went on to confirm that both Game of Thrones and Tales From the Borderlands will conclude their seasons in 2015.
