We originally started out with two separate categories for the best PSN and best indie game. But after a few discussions and chairs thrown, we decided to just mix it up since the two are practically the same anyway.
Possibly the category with the most nominees, we trimmed it down to the top few games with the winner edging the game in second place by just a hair!
Do you agree with our picks? Bear in mind that winners were picked by the staff and wasn’t just based on its review score.
Stay tuned tomorrow to know what our picks are for Best Adventure Game, Best RPG, Best Fighting Game and Best Expansion/DLC.
Best PSN / Indie Game
1) inFAMOUS First Light
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
"Fetch’s story is a great tale of family bonds, hard times, and gives a much deeper look at a character that didn’t get nearly enough exposition in Second Son. For gamers who enjoyed Delsin’s story, First Light feels like a more focused title, and adds greatly to what was already an awesome open world superhero series."

Rogue Legacy
Publisher: Cellar Door Games
Developer: Cellar Door Games
"Rogue Legacy is a gem among indies. As a wash of indie titles comes to the console market, many with nothing inherently fresh or new to offer, Rogue Legacy breaks through and offers a breath of fresh air with a strong variation on familiarity."

Transistor
Publisher: Supergiant Games
Developer: Supergiant Games
"The entire game has a snowball effect when you play it. Each sparkly new facet knocks you over when you come upon it, and you get hit harder and harder as all the wonderful elements stack up. The art and music, the story, the environment, the gameplay, and the characters all tie back to each other in a way that I did not expect, and left me speechless when it culminated and the credits rolled."

Valiant Hearts
Publisher: Ubisoft
Developer: Ubisoft Monpellier
"This game made me shed more tears than any game I have ever played before, and I find that I am not alone in that sentiment. I even think this game communicated parts of WWI so well that it could be used as an educational tool, though the characters’ story is fiction."

Velocity 2X
Publisher: FuturLab
Developer: FuturLab
"The joy of running through the entire level, shooting and phasing perfectly, without stopping to catch my breath, was immense. Velocity 2X is a game that, once you play a bit, guides you into a sort of rhythm. Much like music games, it’s a very seductive effect."

And the Winner is...
Rogue Legacy
Let's get it out of the way, Rogue Legacy is a port, yes. But it's a very good port; and if you're one of the many who hasn't played it yet, you should amend that now.
While the graphics might look very dated compared to other games on this list, the amount of fun that can be had for this little PSN game is second to none.
Rogue Legacy wins this category by a hair, with inFamous First Light hot on its heels at second place.
