Kojima Reveals a Wearable Chicken Hat in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima recently conducted a live stream for three hours, and towards the end, he revealed a surprise feature for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; a wearable chicken hat. Confused yet? Well, it seems that the hat has a purpose.

Kotaku reports that those players who die a lot in the game or frequently fail at missions will be asked if they’d like the chicken hat. If their answer is a yes, they’ll wear it, and will get some assistance with the tougher sections of the game. Basically, enemies will react slower and won’t notice players wearing the hat as they would normally notice them. Apparently, the chicken hat also glows in the dark and should players choose to accept it, they’ll find Snake wearing it even in cutscenes.

That’s Kojima for you!

No release date has been announced for The Phantom Pain at this point, but it is expected to come out in 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
