True Crime Trademark Abandoned by Activision

The chances of another game in the True Crime series have grown even slimmer, with Activision Publishing abandoning the trademark as of December 19, 2014.

Meanwhile, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the True Crime trademark was “abandoned because the applicant failed to respond or filed a late response to an Office action.”

As you may recall, True Crime: Hong Kong was originally in development for Activision, but they sold the game rights to Square Enix, who reworked it into 2012’s Sleeping Dogs and called Activision “crazy” for passing it up.

If Activision comments on the abandonment of the True Crime trademark, we’ll let you know.

Did you play either of the True Crime games?
