The Last of Us Sequel Brainstorming “On Ice” as Naughty Dog Works on Uncharted 4

As part of their continued coverage of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Game Informer interviewed Game Directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann recently. Like most interviews featuring the pair, the talk eventually landed on The Last of Us and its potential sequel.

Speaking hypothetically, Druckmann said “I don’t know” when asked if he’d be okay with someone else working on The Last of Us 2. Straley then jumped in and answered the question for him:

You would not. I’ll answer for Neil. He would not be okay with that. But yeah, that’s all a big if. We’re 110% in Uncharted 4 territory now; blinders on, make this awesome.

Of course, there’s the group of people out there who believe The Last of Us shouldn’t get a sequel, as the original was such a special experience. Druckmann admitted that he agrees with this, adding that any work on another The Last of Us brainstorming is on hold due to Uncharted 4 development:

Yeah, we totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well… We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4.

Where do you stand: Would you rather see a sequel to The Last of Us, or have Naughty Dog keep the original as a one-off?
