Instead of receiving an actual code to input to receive 10% off your purchase this weekend in North America, Ask PlayStation says, “You won’t get a code, you just need to select what you want to purchase and you will see the discount at the checkout screen.” In a separate tweet, they re-iterated, “The 10% discount is applied automatically at the time of the purchase.”

Being done as a reaction to all the PlayStation Network downtime over the holidays, Sony announced that the one-time use 10% PlayStation Store discount code will be valid from Friday, January 23 at 9am PT through Monday, January 26 at 9am PT. Details weren’t fully disclosed on how the codes will be distributed, but it appears there will be another blog post at the end of the week.
There are some restrictions to the 10% discount though, which include PlayStation Plus memberships, PlayStation Now subscriptions, and more, as well as the fact that you can’t use the code through your PlayStation Vita:
The discount will be valid from 9:00 AM 1/23 PST through 9:00 AM PST 1/26. Simply use the promotion code for a one-time 10% discount off eligible items in a total cart purchase in PlayStation Store on PS3, PS4 or the web/mobile at store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Some exclusions do apply, including subscriptions for PS Plus, Music Unlimited, PS Now and rental video content. The code must be redeemed at checkout and discounted transaction completed before 1/26/15 at 9:00 AM.
Meanwhile, the European PS Blog says:
Some exclusions do apply, including subscriptions for PS Plus, Music Unlimited, rental video content, pre-orders, and transactions made on PlayStation Store via the PS Vita, PlayStation TV or PSP content. The code must be redeemed at checkout, either through your PS3, PS4 or online at https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Your discounted transaction must be completed before 9.00am [local time] on 26th January.
As for the 5-day extension on PlayStation Plus memberships, the automatic rollout has begun, with a confirmation email being sent out to members shortly.
