Grand Theft Auto Online Users Having Issues Joining Friends, Rockstar Offers Workaround

It appears as if some Grand Theft Auto V players are getting errors when they try to invite or join a friend in online play, prompting Rockstar to issue a message on its support page that apparently gives a workaround that will allow players to still join their friends online.

According to the support page, some players are getting an error message that says “Sending invites is disabled until both you and this player have completed the GTA Online Tutorial,” even after completing the tutorial.

In order to join friends online players that are having issues should try to get in a Crew with whomever they want to play with at the moment. This, of course, is only a temporary fix, as Rockstar has said that it is “looking into some reports about this error now.”

We’re looking into some reports about this error now. If you would like to receive an automatic email notification when there is more information, please log into the Support site and click Subscribe at the top of this page.

In the meantime, try getting in a Crew with your friends and getting together through the Crews->My Crews->Members option of the Online tab in the GTA Online Pause Menu. Alternatively, if you don’t want to make any changes to your Crews, you can join your friends via the Crews->Friends’ Crews option. Select your friend’s Crew and choose “View Members.” From there, choose your friend’s Gamertag or PSN ID and select “Join Game.”

What do you think of this little workaround? Have you been having troubles connecting with friends in GTA Online?
