How to Gat the Most Out of Saints Row IV
Focus on the story until you unlock the Re-Elected content
It's only a couple of story missions until you get this notification. After this point, DLC missions, additional costumes, new weapons, and extra super power elements become available. It is well worth having these extras unlocked before trying to do open world content, especially the explosive blast element, which can clear out the Flashpoints in one blast and make defeating waves of enemies a breeze.
Customize your character
There is an insane amount of customization available, from sculpting the face, body, and voice of your character to a variety of insane outfits and clothing choices. Why stick with one set up for the whole game? Have fun customizing your character. Change the voice. Change the gender. Wear a Santa suit. There are shops around that allow you to buy new clothes and even change your body image, so have fun with it!
Purchase upgrade bonuses first
Little bonuses like an additional 10% to money earned or an extra 15% experience gained really add up over the course of the game, especially if you grab these bonuses early. The longer you wait to get them, the more money and experience you are throwing away by playing without having them active.
Upgrade Super Jump and Super Sprint for easy traversal
Yeah, you can steal cars if you want, but even with nitro boosts, they are incredibly slow compared to bounding your way across the map with super powers. The sooner you upgrade these abilities, the easier traversal of the entire map will be. Make sure to start doing Keith David's side missions, as he rewards you with unlimited sprint.
Create your own mixtape
The soundtrack in Saints Row IV is an awesome one, and the seven radio stations each have some great songs on them. But why settle for some great songs when you can have all of them? Put all of your favorite tunes from the game on a mixtape which will then become an eighth station full of the music you want to listen to.
Collect the energy clusters
There are over 1200 of them in the game, and they are the key to upgrading your super powers. It's better to have a little bit of ADD and go off the beaten path to collect them now than to find yourself grinding to collect them in order to upgrade one of your powers later. If you can see it, you might as well go grab it.
Customize your arsenal
There are some pretty damn cool weapons in Saints Row IV , but did you know they can get even cooler? Visit the weapon store to give your dubstep gun explosive wubs, generally upgrade weapon stats, or even customize the look of each gun. It may look like a super-soaker, but I'm willing to bet that Zin soldier needs more than a towel after that fight.
Remember your cache!
This is free money! Don't forget to go into your menu and get your cache every so often. As you do more and more activities in the world, the amount in the bank will progressively grow and money should be no problem as you level towards new upgrades.
Let the map be your guide
There are a ton of things to do in Zinyak's recreation of Steelport, so let the map be your guide to all of the missions and content that you can take part in. Use Super Sprint in races through the city, tanks to blow things up, and crazy weapons to cause mayhem and havoc, earning cache and experience for every bit of it.
Check the challenge list and complete challenges
Not only is there a trophy for this, you get bonus experience and cache for every one that you complete. Make sure to check the challenge list so that you can work on these as you play the game, otherwise you may be left with some grinding to do to finish up some forgotten challenges after everything else is done.
