Yesterday, reports from a Spanish event came out, suggesting Resident Evil Revelations 2 would include micro-transactions “for an item that allows you to revive right where you died instead of going back from the last checkpoint.” The poster on NeoGAF added, “You can also get those items by playing the game.”
For clarification, Kotaku reached out to Capcom, where a rep told them that micro-transactions to buy “life crystals” only appear in the recently detailed Raid Mode, and “there are no micro-transactions within the main campaign.”
Explaining what exactly the “life crystals” are, Capcom says they essentially act as continues/re-spawns in Raid Mode once players die. Blue life crystals can be earned through playing daily missions, while the red life crystals can purchased (a price wasn’t given):
The two crystals act the same, but there’s an option to buy if players run out of blue (earned) crystals or don’t want to spend the time earning them. If players have both blue and red crystals, the game will prioritize the blue crystals over the red ones. Again, these are only used in Raid mode and not in the main campaign.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 begins its release on February 24 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
