While it doesn’t show upon first look at these here software charts, Far Cry 4 was the best-selling game in Japan this week. Devil Survivor 2 takes the official #1 spot, but adding up the PS4 and PS3 versions of Far Cry 4 puts it in the top spot. Add in the couple hundred it probably sold on 360 and the seven or eight Xbox One copies and that’s just a bonus.
1. (3DS) Devil Survivor 2: Break Record – 53,264
2. (PS4) Far Cry 4 – 36,239

14. (WIU) Super Smash Bros. – 6,398
15. (PS3) Ukiyo no Shishi – 6,184

The game apparently helped shift a few PS4 hardware units, as Sony saw it’s console outsell its handheld for the first time in a long while. Here’s the chart:
3DS – 36,408
PS4 – 17,392
PSV – 12,392
PS3 – 7,211
WIU – 6,807
XBO – 222
No system — not even the 3DS — is really selling well, but the PS4 at least performed less terribly than it has in recent times. For the curious, about 29k of those 3DS sales are “New 3DS” models and 521 Vita sales are what we call “PlayStation TV” (it’s “Vita TV” in Japan).
