Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Takes Resident Evil 6 Fan Feedback Into Account

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Producer Michiteru Okabe and Production Manager Matt Walker spoke about how they used a lot of fan feedback to create the upcoming horror survival game.

After being asked whether or not they considered Resident Evil 6 a failure, Okabe went on to explain that they received a lot of diverse feedback on the game, and tried their best to take note of it in order to make Revelations 2 as accessible as possible.

What our jobs should be is listening to that feedback and trying to figure out what we can do to make something that people are going to enjoy even more. So, as far as what would happen with the next numbered title, we don’t actually work on that portion of the franchise. We work on Revelations, and so whoever’s making whatever the next thing would be, those guys would be a separate dev team and we’re convinced that whatever they’re going to do is going to be something revolutionary, next time around.

But at least as far as Revelations is concerned… for us we want to get fan feedback, and we want to listen to that and figure out what is it that we can do to make the best experience for people. And so we’re kind of at a branching point now, where the series could go off in a whole bunch of different ways – with a whole bunch of new, interesting things going on in video game development. So whatever happens I think the next thing is gonna be… interesting to see, I guess we’ll find out.

Walker piped in shortly after this, explaining that some players wanted “this return to roots” with Revelations 2, and that the team was happy to try to make that happen.

Again, we’ve been focusing on Revelations here, but Revelations itself… talking about this thing that kind of came up out of nowhere, it’s like, ‘Well, we get all this feedback’ and we’d been hearing things like, ‘We want a return to survival horror. We want this return to roots’. And so Revelations was built on that concept of, ‘Let’s listen to that fan feedback and do that.’

Episode one of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set to come out on February 24 on PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. What do you think about Capcom’s claim that it focused on fan feedback?
