NetherRealm Isn’t Developing the PS3/360 Versions of Mortal Kombat X, High Voltage is

In order to keep NetherRealm “100% focused on developing for next-gen,” while maximizing the potential of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Warner Bros confirmed to Videogamer that High Voltage Software is developing Mortal Kombat X for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Warner Bros talked about the change:

NetherRealm is not developing the PS3/360 versions. High Voltage is our partner focused on developing the PS3/360 and the team is giving those versions its full attention. All platforms for this game are built on NetherRealm’s tech with oversight from the NetherRealm.

With a quick glance at their website, you’ll see High Voltage has worked on the Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 4 and PC, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected + Gat Out of Hell on PS4 and Xbox One, Conduit 2 on Wii, and more.

Using a different developer for the previous generation versions of games is nothing new, with High Moon Studios developing the PS3/360 versions of Advanced Warfare, and Nixxes working on the Xbox 360 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Mortal Kombat X launches worldwide on April 14.
